“All in a Family” Project - A River Runs Through it ![]()

Size: 8x12 in
Medium: Ink & Digital Coloring
This is a series of book illustrations of A River Runs Through It.
The main idea is that people can still love each other completely, even if there are misunderstandings. The book is a memoir of the author Norman Maclean and his younger brother. As Maclean has a stable life, his younger brother was addicted to gambling and owed lots of bets. Nevertheless, he still tried to bond with his younger brother and showed his unrestrained love. Moved by this real and touching family story, I created this series illustrating the most important moments in Maclean's life according to the book.
“Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.”
